so for those that have been keeping up: i have recently become fascinated with the lost gospels as well as the history of the four cannon gospels (matthew, mark, luke, and john) and as some may say the "historical jesus".. i am fascinated by the variations in who jesus was and what he did according to different traditions and texts.
one thing that provoked me the other day is that the coptics/gnostics do not believe jesus "died for our sins".
which explains why an i have never been accosted infront of my favorite drinking hole my a glassy eyed 20 year old with a pamphlet in their hand asking if i am "saved".. so this got me thinking..... i don't recall jesus ever claiming to have to die for our sins in matthew, mark, luke or john either?
question? What is the actual story? I think I may have forgotten.....
Wasn't the seed already spoken about in Gen (plan aleardy layed out), then god gave the Abraham the gift of having the seed appear through his bloodline (being faithful)? Didn't they need to do all that mumbo jumbo (scrafices) until the seed arrived.......?
If this is the case.....they didn't have a perfect set up until the historical Christ came?
reading the first couple of awakes for 2013 i think there is a pattern developing.. they have the regular "could it have happened by chance" article on something amazing in nature but they are also interviewing a scientist who is also a witness.
this is a pretty interesting tack on a number of levels.. firstly it is sending out the implicit message that "look, this educated person accepts creation, the flood and every other account that is at odds with generally accepted science, so that should give you confidence that you are right as well".
secondly, as a magazine designed for public comsumption is suggests to non-witnesses that there are many well educated people who accept the bible.
.......while channel surfing a few years back I came accross a program where a few scientists were discussing/promoting the bible....as I continued to watch, it turns out it was a religious program where either the scientists were from the same church...or they had found scientists that were religious......I thought what a great scam......
WTS is simply copying other religions.........

i had been studying with the jehovah's witnesses for the last couple years.
they have been interesting study sessions and have learned quite a bit about them and their beliefs.
much of what they teach is what i had learned through personal bible study.. growing up was normal.

a new doctoral dissertation in theology from gothenburg university claims that the bible has been misinterpreted when it comes to how jesus died.
gunnar samuelsson who wrote the dissertation has studied the original texts and sees no explicit references to crucifiction.

I was molested by a JW brother......was also abused at home and meetings because as I child I was a wiggle worm and everything was evil......pinched, spanked, beaten, scholded....had a deep constant fear of demons and the big A.....later.....hadn't seen my mother in 20yrs because of the WTS...... also was divorced due to the WTS......now my "only" daughter is shunning me.....it also ruined my aunts relationship with her "only" daughter AND another cousin went into deep depression (Pioneered for years) and took to drinking because her promise was not fulfilled in her generation...finally died in her sleep from depression...so you tell me ....
